Students at UNITEC choose from a wide selection of courses in diverse academic areas such as Arts for Design, Biological Medical Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Sciences, and Social Sciences. The university provides the opportunity for students to earn degrees ranging from high school and undergraduate to graduate and master’s. The Business Administration and Dentistry programs are among the school’s most notable programs.
UNITEC has been accredited by the Secretary of Public Education, the Federation of Mexican Private Institutions of Higher Education, the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education, the Council for Accreditation of Higher Education, the Latin American Union of Universities, and the International Association for Continuing Education and Training.
Since 2001, more than 10,000 students have participated in one of UNITEC’s more than 40 volunteer programs, with participation increasing from 10% to more than 30% of the student body. 90% of participating students have rated these programs as either good or excellent, noting that the programs positively contributed to their personal and professional development. Most of the volunteer activities that UNITEC organizes focus on helping to create new educational opportunities, improve the environment, or provide assistance to local communities.

Additionally, UNITEC has organized 14 campaigns to respond to crisis situations in Mexico and abroad, collecting more than 76 tons of material, 31,000 blankets and 16,500 new toys.
In 2010, UNITEC was recognized as a Socially Responsible Company by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy, placing UNITEC among 459 recognized companies.
Mexico’s secretary of Public Education has acknowledged UNITEC’s academic quality referring to the university as an “excellent academic institution."
